Choosing Your Wedding Color Palette

At Twickenham House and Hall, our 2023 brides are planning weddings with immense elegance while staying true to their personalities and wedding formality. Color palettes significantly contribute to planning as they set the tone for the wedding's atmosphere.

Color dramatically influences the aesthetic of a wedding. A black tie wedding with a black and white color palette exudes elegance and remains timeless throughout history. However, a backyard wedding seeking intimacy and nostalgia will likely use pastel colors to impact the wedding's vibe. Keep in mind, color does not negate elegance! Any couple can incorporate a desired color for their wedding and maintain an elegant event. However, the color choices do impact the wedding vibe. Not sure how to decide? We’re here to walk you through 2023 wedding color palette trends and selecting the best colors for you!

Trending Colors in 2023

At Twickenham House and Hall, our 2023 brides are planning weddings with immense elegance while staying true to their personalities and wedding formality. Color palettes significantly contribute to planning as they set the tone for the wedding's atmosphere.

Pinks

This year, color is trending within the wedding sphere, as seen with our first palette prediction for this wedding season. They say, "pink packs a punch," and with Pantone's color of the year being a vibrant Viva Magenta, we expect a range of pink shades to trend this year. Whether a light, dusty pink, or vivid magenta, 2023 couples are not shying away from color and variety. We are seeing pops of color incorporated mainly through the florals and intimate details of our 2023 brides. Whether through bouquets, mother-of-the-bride dresses, invitations, or even cocktails served, pink pallets with flashes of brighter hues are trending this wedding season.

Neutrals

Unlike the pop of color with pink, neutral, earthy-toned wedding palettes are here to stay in 2023. Think beige, cream, terracotta, champagne, greens, light pinks, and lavender. We love neutral wedding pallets at Twickenham because each decor aspect seamlessly incorporates our timeless manor and mountainscape views. With a neutral pallet, couples include wood, clay, and other textures that photograph beautifully and make their aesthetic wedding one of a kind while remaining timeless. Likewise, suppose a couple is seeking to include trending elements in their wedding. In that case, pampas grass is a complimentary decoration that stands out while blending with the aesthetic.

Blues

Shades of blue are wedding colors that will never go out of style. Their range, depth, and natural, colorful beauty integrate seamlessly with the elegance of a wedding. This year, we expect to continue seeing dusty blues paired with navy and gray shades in a wedding pallet. For couples seeking to avoid gray, cream and ivory colors pair perfectly with the blue aesthetic and merge with the trending neutral palettes. Although this color palette matches spring and summer, the blues can become richer throughout the seasons to adapt to any wedding. The old poem indicates good luck, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in her shoe." The more blue, the more luck going into marriage.

Selecting a color palette for your wedding

You may be thinking, "where do I even start with my color selection?" First, tour and book your venue. Often, couples will fall in love with a location and imagine their lives together beginning at the particular site. Whether this is an outdoor mountainscape and manor, or an intimate beach celebration, your chosen venue dramatically impacts the aesthetic of your wedding.

Likewise, many venues book out years in advance, and their availability may be limited. The time of year of your event should impact your color palette significantly. A bright, colorful, pastel aesthetic does not fit with an autumn or winter wedding. If you love specific colors, consider enriching them with deeper tones and hues to match the wedding season. We love neutral, earthy, and orange color palettes for autumn weddings. The bite of cold air mixed with the changing leaves pairs beautifully with neutrals or deeper-toned colors. Likewise, winter weddings cry out for jewel-toned colors. Think deep reds, burgundy, navy, and emerald green. Spring and summer incorporate many of the same colors with varying hues. Pinks, blues, and colorful tones are perfect for a summer wedding.

Therefore, to pick a color palette for your wedding, find a venue and select a date, then seek to compliment the natural beauty of your venue and seasonal colors to create a stunning environment for the biggest day of your life.
